Hannes Schmid is a German-Austrian actor with New Zealand and Nordic roots. He completed acting studies for theater and film in Berlin and Vienna.

Signed by an agency while he was still studying, he worked as an actor in major productions. Including as an overwhelmed receptionist in Til Schweiger's comedy “Klassentreffen 1.0”, in the ARD television film “Gloria” and the Netflix series “Dogs of Berlin”.

In the 2018 film and Lake Constance crime thriller “Shadows over Lake Constance” he played the main role as the emphatic private detective Max Marek. He also played the main role in the international comedy “Cheers to Life”, which was shot in Serbia.

In 2019 he starred in the award-winning mountain farming drama “Peak of Solitude”, in which he illegally smuggles goods over mountain passes and has to face his father's conflict.

In 2021, he appeared in a leading role in 20 episodes in the RTL series “Alles was counts” as the cocaine-addicted and dealing star chef Kai Löwenau.

He also acted as director and leading actor in the award-winning short film “Limbus”.

In the 2024 season finale of the successful ZDF & ORF series “Der Bergdoktor”, he played the main role of the tattoo artist “Fabian Marx”, who falls in love with his best friend’s wife and is hiding a big secret.

One of his strengths is his versatility and love of sports. In his childhood he was a ski jumper for 4 years and played football for 14 years. He is a professionally certified diving and freediving instructor. His breath hold record is 4:52 minutes and his depth record is 69 meters. In 2014 he completed training as a skydiver. He is an avid skier, snowboarder and wakeboarder.

He holds a US Working Permit/US Green Card.

He was an active member of the Red Cross and is a trained paramedic and ambulance driver.
