Katja Sallay was born in Budapest and came to Germany at the age of 3. At 16 she bought an S-VHS camera and shot her 1st short film. 
After a short stop at the University studying German literature, philosophy and Hungarian studies in Berlin, she did a camera internship at ARRI Berlin. Shortly she became 2nd Assistant Camera on American productions, among others; at 20 she was 1st AC on cinema, TV and commercials. Her love, however, was always directing and so she went to Los Angeles, to The Lee Strasberg Film & Theatre Institute,  to actually learn how to work with actors. They offered her a 4-year acting scholarship. Which she took, of course. After discovering her love and talent for acting, she got the leading role of "ALMA" under Paulus Manker in Vienna, which she played for 9 years. Since then she has been working as an actress for cinema and TV and continues working as an audio book narrator.
Her script "5 Seasons - a Journey" was the cornerstone to her feature film debut... as a director.
