Maria Agni
Born in Vladimir, USSR, and grew up in Erlangen. Studied acting at the GITIS Theater Arts Academy in Moscow. She has been living and working in Berlin for over 10 years as a freelance actress, director and theater teacher.

Maria has participated in numerous theater productions of various genres, including “Flüchtlingsgespräche” by B. Brecht, a site-specific performance at Ostbahnhof in collaboration with the Festival of Arts “The Access Point” St. Petersburg and the Brecht-Haus Berlin, as well as “DAU. FREIHEIT”, an interdisciplinary art project. Her other projects include “Kommunalka 09010” at Ballhaus Ost Berlin and “Das OPFER, und sein Kampf”, a play about conspiracy theories and antisemitism.

As an actress, theater educator and curator, she develops new pedagogical methods and devotes herself to dramaturgical research on political and historical topics, especially on the culture of remembrance. She recently made her debut as a translator when she worked for the anti-war theater festival “Echo. Ljubimovka”, where she translated two plays from Russian into German. Maria is also active in civil society initiatives and human rights projects and supports people in exile.
