Vanja Rukavina, born in Sarajevo, finished Drama School Maastricht in 2011 in the Netherlands. Immediately after graduating Vanja took residency at the prominent theatre company INTERNATIONAL THEATRE AMSTERDAM. He was seen in several plays like DISGRACE, TAMING OF THE SHREW, CHILDREN OF THE SUN, OPENING NIGHT and EMILIA GALOTTI. After that he has been performing for several years at THE NATIONAL THEATRE of the Netherlands where he started playing main roles in ROMEO & JULIET and TROJAN WARS. For the marathon performance THE NATION he won the Arlecchino for best supporting male role.

On television Vanja was seen in the third season of THE ADULTERER, earlier he played the leading role in an episode of VAN GOD LOS, and in the special themed Onenightstand MIJN MARKO. Last year Vanja was seen in the tv-serie I KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

Vanja made and played the revival of NOBODY HOME, the acclaimed play about the refugee issue. He also in toured with his own danceperformance BOKKO; the performance was seen throughout Europe, China and South Korea. His latest solo performance LANGUAGE was nominated for the BNG Bank Theaterprijs 2019.
