Best Actress with film RELIEVE at the International Film festival Manhattan

Acclaimed Luso-American actress Anna Carvalho ( Free Dead Or Alive ) has won Best Actress for her performance in the powerful short film Relieve at the prestigious International Film Festival Manhattan. The film, a thrilling and haunting tale set in rural Texas, also took home the award for Best Cinematography to Ian MacGar and was nominated Best Short Film US, solidifying its place as a standout production on the festival circuit.

As the lead in Relieve, Carvalho boasts over 100 international acting credits and numerous awards as an actress, director, and producer. Renowned for her versatility and dedication, this latest accolade further enhances her impressive legacy.

Relieve, directed and written by Rajesh Vemula, tells the suspenseful story of Dhruv (Ayyappa Konjeti) and his wife, Tara (Srivalli Vineeta), who, while driving through rural Texas in 1947, offer a ride to a mysterious woman named Anna (Anna Carvalho). When Anna accidentally leaves her bag in their car, the couple returns to an abandoned village to find her, only to encounter unforeseen dangers. The film expertly explores themes of tension and mystery, with Carvalho delivering a powerful portrayal of Anna.

Relieve is produced by Studio RV, with Pamela de Marion Diaz, Jack Starks and Rajesh Vemula serving as producers. A shining example of diversity in filmmaking, the film features an international cast and crew from the United States, India, Portugal, and Mexico. Having premiered in October of last year at AFS Cinema in Austin, Texas, Relieve has since garnered multiple awards at various festivals worldwide.
